The latest from Jessica…

I just finished my second year of grad school at Richmont Graduate University. The photo on the left is a picture of Prague that hangs in the hallway at Richmont.God continues to make it clear that this is the next right step to help me have the tools to come alongside women who have been trafficked. Consider joining me on my prayer and support team!

About Me

I was born and raised in Georgia. I attended the University of Georgia and earned my degree in Child & Family Development. Upon graduation, I worked as a worship intern at UGA’s Wesley Foundation for two years. There I enjoyed leading worship and was given the opportunity to do short-term missions in New York, Costa Rica, and South Africa. After working with the Wesley Foundation, I then worked at UGA as the project coordinator for grants that assist people with disabilities. During that time, God began to shape and confirm a call to missions for my life. After a providential meeting with some old friends at a gas station, I was invited to go on a short-term mission trip to Prague, Czech Republic. That trip lead me to accept God’s calling to join Serge on a team of people setting out to share God’s love with the people of Prague. Through my 10 years in Prague, I realized I am called to work with survivors of trafficking and women in vulnerable situations and that I need more training. I plan to return to Europe, hopefully Prague, to fulfill God’s purpose for my life.

Why Anti-human Trafficking?

The U.S. Department of State defines human trafficking as obtaining some type of labor or commercial service through force, coercion, or fraud. Put even more simply, it’s modern-day slavery, a worldwide industry that’s worth about $150 billion and a lucrative international criminal enterprise that’s second only to drug trafficking. It is thought that 40.3 Million people are caught in trafficking situations around the world. One in four are children. It is so catastrophic destroying people, households, and communities. Someone who experiences trafficking deals with mental and physical trauma, ostracism, and lack of vocational skills. I am training now as a trauma counselor to help come alongside survivors of trafficking to help them heal and re-engage in the life God has for them.

The Czech Republic is a 3-in-1 country, meaning a country of origin, destination, and transit for human trafficking. It is also ranked 3rd in Europe for the highest number of trafficking victims. My vision is to bring awareness, prayer support, and presence in Prague around the issue of anti-human trafficking.
